VPN Tunneling Protocols on MikroTik with LABS

Very comprehensive VPN Tunneling course, lot of examples, easy configuration. I recommend this course the same as the rest of Maher's courses, worth seeing it!

I have purchased that course for OVPN & WireGuard. Both of them was not explained well, it was like the guides on the internet, where there is no explanation why we are configuring this and doing that. --> OVPN: - OVPN v2 was used, the current version is v11. - Section is outdated, current RouterOS is more recent with better options. - Not showing details how certificate work, Maher referred me to a previous video to create a certificate instead of creating it from scratch. --> Wireguard: - Not showing the different types of configuration like on windows & Linux, it was tested on android in the video, I got iPhone and had issues with VPN maintaining an active connection. - explaining only how to configure the wireguard, without explaining the options used. I like Maher's courses, he is a great instructor, but that course was not as I expected and was outdated. I hope one day he updates outdated section and provide more details

This is not tutorial/guide, this is simple cookbook, most important things are just done, without any explanation. It seem, that instructor has no experience or knowledge in more complex things.

Maher is excellent teacher who has great knowledge and most important is that he know how to distribute that knowledge to other.

his microphone is extremely bad, hard to understand. no pre made subtitles, but he knows a lot and its still helpful.

Getting information but the instructor seems at times a little out of his depth. Endless repetition of certain facts whilst other important bits are glossed over or missed out entirely. His understanding of ARP is shaky at best. The whole course could be much better structured - first set up (and explain) a single common lab environment which is to be used for all the exercises. There were subtle changes between lectures (e.g. appearance and disappearance of intermediate routers) which were not explained and turned out not to be significant. Choose a clearer allocation of IP addresses. You could use one private range for the public interfaces, one for local LANs and one for end-point addresses. Currently the course uses very similar addresses for completely different purposes, so you have to look hard at them to decide which is which. Specify firewall requirements at the beginning rather than leaving the student to puzzle them out for himself. Then explain the common features of all the possible protocols first (public addresses, private address, end-point addresses, routing), then for each individual one cover only the features which make that one unique. There is lots of repetition of the same information again and again - as if each lecture was designed to be standalone rather than part of a course - and then important information is glossed over.

Learned nothing new but is only a starting point for rest of course so that is OK. Learning lots now, very informative, labs are great

The instructor knows a lot and is easy to follow. However, I found some sections like the OVPN Client to Site part (why I purchased the course) to be sub-par in that he was unable to get all versions of the OVPN Client software working with his setup. While it's a decent thing to include outdated programs for testing, it does no one any good for the support to end there. What should have happened is the instructor following up with troubleshooting in a document or some other way (maybe update the video of that part) of ensuring students could use the most recent program and configuration versions. Also, the instructor does not speak much about security or best practices, which I found a bit lacking. That being said, it was a fun course overall and I am happy to have taken it.

From other courses I know that Maher is an excellent lecturer. Very knowledgable and easy to follow. One of the best.

Maher have done an excellent job to explain Mikrotik tunnels. He is a type of instructor that work hard and prepare well in the way that we can follow what he teach and look easy to us. Highly recommended for anyone that is using Mikrotik for VPNs.
